Backward Point is a cricket podcast built by Canada based Pakistani brothers Nazar and Bashaar Syed. They started it to share bold, unfiltered opinions and real talk about the game, and it has grown into the biggest cricket podcast in North America with over 75 million views across platforms.
What We Did
We grew the brand from zero to over 120,000 subscribers across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, building the biggest cricket podcast in America with more than 80 million views across platforms
Our Strategy
Our primary strategy was to use short form clips to capture attention on TikTok and Instagram, then funnel that audience to YouTube for long form episodes. We also leaned heavily into YouTube Shorts as a discovery engine to reach new viewers and convert them into regular long form watchers.
The strategy we used was the Mother Child approach. We focused on growing on TikTok and Instagram through short form clips, then steadily moved that audience over to the YouTube channel where the long form content lives.
Alongside that transfer, YouTube also continued to grow naturally through consistent posting and discovery.
After we came on, the channel saw immediate and
significant spikes in both subscribers and views.
From that point on, growth became consistent
rather than sporadic, driven by the short form to
long form strategy we implemented.
Those early spikes reflect the audience transfer
from TikTok and Instagram, while the steady upward
trend shows thestrategy compounding over time.
Their popularity grew to the point that they started collaborating with top cricketers, major teams, and professional leagues.
2024 was huge for Backward Point, and Spotify Wrapped is proof of the journey. We helped them double down on North America, scale discovery through short form, and turn that attention into consistent long form viewership.
The result, they’re still the biggest cricket podcast in North America. Appreciate everyone who tuned in and supported the show this year.
